STELLENBOSCH

"The Heart of the Winelands"

Stellenbosch is the historic heart of South Africa’s wine country, where centuries of heritage meet a landscape of remarkable natural beauty.

Founded in 1679, it is the country’s second-oldest town, and its history is woven into every oak-lined street and whitewashed Cape Dutch building. Named after Simon van der Stel, the first governor of the Cape, Stellenbosch has long been at the centre of South Africa’s cultural and agricultural development, with wine at the core of its identity.

Surrounded by the Simonsberg and Stellenbosch Mountains, the region is defined by rolling vineyards, fertile valleys, and a climate perfectly suited to producing some of the finest wines in the Southern Hemisphere. Generations of winemakers have shaped the land here, combining tradition with innovation to create a wine culture that is both deeply rooted and globally respected.

Today, Stellenbosch is home to a diverse collection of estates, from historic farms that have been producing wine for centuries to contemporary wineries pushing the boundaries of modern viticulture. Alongside this, the region has become a destination for exceptional food, where seasonal produce and local ingredients are celebrated through thoughtful, refined cuisine.

Yet despite its global reputation, Stellenbosch retains a sense of calm and authenticity. It is a place where time slows, where history is felt rather than displayed, and where the connection between land, wine, and people remains at the centre of the experience.
