Pinnacle Point
Carved into cliffside terrain with sweeping views of the Indian Ocean, Pinnacle Point is widely regarded as one of the most dramatic golf courses ever created. Perched on the rugged cliffs of Mossel Bay and designed by acclaimed architects Peter Matkovich and Darren Clarke, it is an 18-hole championship course that marries natural beauty with bold, world-class design.
The course is celebrated for its seven cliff-edge holes, four of which require shots that play directly over the ocean. Among the most memorable are the par-3 7th, where the green perches precariously on a cliff top, and the par-4 8th, a daring hole that demands a carry of more than 200 metres across a yawning ravine. These signature challenges make Pinnacle Point unforgettable, each round a true test against both design and nature.
Despite its rugged setting, Pinnacle Point remains accessible to golfers of all abilities. Its par-72 layout is generous in width yet highly strategic, rewarding thoughtful play and precision. The ever-present coastal winds can transform the character of the course from one day to the next, ensuring that no two rounds are alike.
